A random act of kindness prompted this blog. As soon as it occurred I thought of the woman at the temple who gave all she had when it was time for the offering. Felt that would be the text for this blog, yet as I meditated on my experience the Spirit led me to this. "And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest is charity." (KJV 1 Cor. 13:13) Other translations don't use the word charity, the word instead is love. This is not the time nor the place to delve in to all the theological jargon as for why. Instead, I'll simply tell you the practical application in my daily walk.
I had a problem taking charity, Lord knows I did not want to be seen as a "charity case". As I stated before, hard work and perseverance are characters I hold in high regards. Yet this morning it dawned on me. Aren't we all truly "charity cases"? Isn't it God's charity, in a matter of speaking, that gives us entrance in to adoption? Not because we deserve it, but because we're in need of it. Aren't we all supposed to be living, breathing, tangible evidence of love? The scripture says, "the greatest is charity." To show it, to be an example of it, what could be greater?
Understand, everything I'm doing and accomplish is directly a result of charity. The Father's love being manifested through His children. My little "charity case" self glorifies the Father. When you see me looking clean, healthy, and accomplishing my purpose it leaves no question that the Father is working. Can you dig it? I implore you to testify of His goodness, of all the charity that has been shown you throughout your life. Don't let people be deceived thinking that hard work is what got you where you are. Tell them about the help you've received along the way. Be sure there is no question in their mind that you are in the position you are because of God's provision. Whether your a CEO, or unemployed. His favor is on your life, take notice and tell the world about it.
I'm proud to be a "charity case". I'm humbled that He's blessing me with things to give charity to others as well. Our purpose is to spread His love to others. Spread charity, and accept it as it comes to you. This is greater than money, advice, a ride, and whatever else you can think of. None of those things mean anything if there not given with a charitable, loving, heart. Can you dig it?
