Over the past few weeks I've had the honor of working with a great bunch of people. Affectionately nicknamed "Team Turnt Up", we have had a truly enriching time working together. Though our time together is at an end, we all walk away with memories that will resonate through the rest of our days. I've been reflecting on the good and the bad of this experience. Searching to find the blessing He intended through our time together. I've come to a conclusion. We were driven by more than titles, and paychecks. We were linked in a common cause that we were all passionate about. Things got heated from time to time, yet at the end of the day we were more family than anything. To all of you, I love you and thank you for loving on me.
When deciding what to write about this week, the answer was obvious. Jobs, careers, whatever you want to call it. The acronym above means "Jesus Over Business". It is this attitude we as His children need to exude in our daily interactions. Simply taking this look through out our days would relieve undue stress. As His child you are called to conduct yourself in a certain manner in lieu of any circumstance. In lieu of Manager Moron, in lieu of Co-Worker Conceit, in lieu of President Pride. AMEN?
Think about how much time you spend on the job. Do you think the Father allows that for any old reason? Do you think those people there are not there for a purpose higher than income? Do you recognize you've been placed there in a missionary way? It's not about spreadsheets, it's about spreading His Spirit. Believe me, everyday an opportunity is given you to do just that. Whether it be in the break room, conference room, convention, or dealing with a client/customer. All of us are called to minister, to serve. That is your purpose, above all else. It's great that your C.E.O. such and such, I applaud that. It's great that your President whosoever.
Did it ever dawn on you that maintenance worker Bob, is Deacon Bob. That the lady at the Metro handing out that morning paper has been a Sunday School teacher for the last 15 years. That could be the reason they've always got that big ol' smile on their face. What about yourself? Are you "Technician Tom" Monday through Friday, then "Trustee Tom" on Sunday? That's not the way it should be. Before you are whatever this world recognizes you as, remember who He has called you to be. No matter what you're doing, you're always that FIRST.
The same way you conduct yourself on Sunday morning, is the same way you need to conduct yourself on "Humpday". Amen. That same attitude that causes you to scream "Glory" when the Spirit hits you, should be the same one that makes you say "Jesus" when every thing is haywire in the office. We are not called to worship, praise, pray, glorify, and magnify Him once a week. We are called to do it perpetually, PERPETUALLY. While you're on your job today, meditate on this verse. Can't wait to hear your feedback. "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." (Colossians 3:17 NKJV)
AMEN? Serve.....serve......serve.
