For example: A person may be aggressive, determined, focused, and driven. In and of themselves these characteristics are neither good or bad. That determination can only be made once you take in to account one's personality....the spirit of that person. If you know that person is kind and puts others first then the above listed qualities are awesome. If you know the person is "in the way" then you can see how detrimental these qualities can be to your nervous system. ( I sorry, that was just an uppity way of saying that person gets on your nerves.)
The same is true of God, you can see His characteristics all day....it's not until you take in to account His Spirit that you'll begin to know Him. Until then you can deceive yourself in to believing God can be whoever you want Him to be. Understood. Now let's look at the other side of the coin, for that is truly what this message is about.
God knows all of us, intimately. He created us, Psalms 139 tells you all about it. Crack open the "Master Playbook" and you'll see it. Yet God is not intrusive He's courteous. He only acts in your life as you allow Him. In accordance to what you allow your spirit to reveal to Him. Stop "fronting" with God. In your prayers, in your dedication to Him. Be 100 with Him y'all. Go to Him and let Him know those deep things about you. That's what He's there for, that's the you He wants to know. Not your characteristics, He wants to know your spirit. AMEN?
Our text is Galatians 4:9 (HCSB); "But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and bankrupt elemental forces? Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?" This offers us insight as to how we become known by God. We become known by the lives we lead once we allow Him in. He sees your changed spirit which results in outward changes. Habits, relationships, speech, everything should change. Why? Because you recognize His presence in everything. AMEN?
It's not enough for you to know God, God has to know you. Spend time with Him, share with Him, love on Him, praise Him, worship Him. You shouldn't treat your relationship with Him like you do with all your social network buddies, co-workers, or relatives. God doesn't want to spend time with you at the family reunion, He wants to spend time with you daily. Not once a day, but all day.
Are you known by God, or do you just know God? Think about this, this is imperative family. I used to always say, "A lot of bamas know me, but I don't know a lot of bamas." Forgive my expression, but do you get how that applies. A lot of people know God, yet how many of us have allowed Him to truly know us. This is a two way street people. It's not just about Him, there are things required of you to make this relationship meaningful. Do your part. Not out of obligation, do it out of obedience. Let Him get to know you. Accept the freedom He offers. It's the only relationship you will ever have where you can just be you. The you He intended you to be, that He purposed you to be, that He loves more than creation itself.
Be Blessed Be Faithful
